Egret's night outEgret sighed as she turned to the last page in her book. She hated reading the last page. The last pages were an ending and every time she finished a book she felt the imaginary world dissolve around her. Her one protection from the harsh realities of the real world gone.Egret's night out
Egret perched delicately on the railing that ran along the roof of the orphanage, her bare feet finding purchase on the thin railing easily, her new crimson coat, a gift from Elizabeth, hung down behind her occasionally flaring up in the wind. Her golden bangs covered eyes that could easily be compared to burning turquoise, while the wind had removed her hat a

the maidThe orphanage of Novell was much grandeur place then even the countess palace. It was located on a hill overlooking the market place with a most breathtaking view of the whole city as well as the surrounding landscape. The countess, an orphan herself, made sure that no child was left wanting. I had first heard of the place when I was looking for a job at the local offices, a most plumb offer for a maid at the orphanage was being overlooked by everyone. Elizabeth's dreamIt wasnt often that Egret visited the castles cavernous dungeons.Elizabeth's dream
It was, after all, the vampires domain. A miniature realm of darkness where Elizabeth kept to herself, slept in peace, away from the noisy world of humans.

what do you fear? The orphanage of Novell was pleasant enough at first. She had a room in the west wing, away from the noise, the noise that comes with living humans. Her father, Gods rest his soul, always used to say Humans are so loud that it would be impossible to miss them in the dark. And the people seem nice enough; everyone bows and is polite. But Egret couldnt help but notice a mild sense of neglect, as if she were a stray dog or an uninvited guest. She had thought for a time that it was due to a fact that she was nobility, but when Egret looked into their eyes, really looked, she saw a vast coldness within them.what do you fear?

You accept darkness, yet choose to live in the light.
So why is it that you loathe us who teeter on the edge of nothing?
We who were turned away by both light and dark - never given a choice?
